For 65 years the Grammy Awards have been the biggest night in music, with the show hitting some high, as well as low, notes along the way.

The ceremony brings together the biggest names in the industry often resulting in epic and unexpected moments.

From bizarre Ukrainian pranksters to flesh-flashing outfits and unlikely duets on stage, headlines have been made many times over.

This year, the stars will descend upon the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 5 for a night of shocking wins, devastating losses and, best of all, incredible live music.

Ahead of another thrilling ceremony, MailOnline takes a look back at the most memorable moments in Grammys history.

A look back at the most memorable moments at the Grammys: The music world was left in shock at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards when Adele was targeted by a bizarre prankster

Adele battles a stage invader (2013)

The music world was left in shock at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards when Adele was targeted by a bizarre prankster.

Ukrainian presenter Vitalii Sediuk stormed the stage when Adele was announced as Best Solo Performance, grabbing the award from a shocked Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull.

Sediuk was later slapped with a trespassing charge and spent a night in the cells as a result of the incident, but he later insisted he was merely doing his job, insisting: ‘I’m not a crazy guy. I just think differently.’

Justin Timberlake’s awkward apology (2004)

An awards acceptance speech was dominated by an awkward apology in 2004 when Justin Timberlake won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for hit single Cry Me A River.

The singer was referring to his performance with Janet Jackson a week earlier, when he controversially lifted the R&B star’s bra during a duet at the Superbowl – an incident witnessed by 89 million viewers.

‘Listen, I know it’s best a rough week on everybody,’ he said. ‘What occurred was unintentional and completely regrettable, and I apologize if you guys were offended.’

Beyonce’s (t)winning performance (2017)

Just days after announcing she was pregnant with twins, Beyoncé put on a hell of a show at the 59th Grammys.

Proving she wouldn’t be slowing down any time soon she belted out a nine minute medley of hits Love Drought and Sandcastle from her visual album, Lemonade.

The singer put her baby bump on full display in a tiny gold bikini, seeming to send a very pointed message after she was bizarrely accused of sporting a prosthetic bump during her first pregnancy with Blue Ivy.

Jennifer Lopez wears ‘The Dress’ (2000)

The most talked about moment at the 43rd Grammys happened before the ceremony even started.

The internet exploded when Jennifer Lopez walked the red carpet in a plunging palm leaf print Versace dress that showcased her incredible figure.

Images of Jennifer at the event were downloaded from the GRAMMY website 642,917 times in just 24 hours, inspiring the creation of Google Images, while also cementing Donatella Versace’s credentials as a designer in her own right following the death of her brother Gianni.

THAT Milli Vanilli controversy (1990)

R&B duo Milli Vanilli became the first musical act to be stripped of their Grammy after it emerged they were frauds.

Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus exploded onto the music scene in the late 80s, earning themselves the Best New Artist Grammy in 1990 after scoring a string of hits.

Their huge success saw the duo famously compare themselves to Elvis Presley, however, it later emerged the frontmen had been lip syncing the entire time, so they were forced to return their award while also being hit with a number of lawsuits.

Lady Marmalade spice up the stage (2002)

The release of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge saw Lady Marmalade dominate the chart and this was celebrated when the singers came together for a very sexy show.

Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya and Lil Kim sent the crowds wild when they stormed the stage for a raunchy performance that also featured a surprise rap solo from Missy Elliot.

If that wasn’t enough, the legendary Patti Labelle, who sang the original version of the track in 1971, also surprised the audience right at the end for a once-in-a-lifetime girl-power finale.

A star is hatched! (2011)

Lady Gaga marked her arrival in typically flamboyant fashion by ‘hatching’ from a large egg in 2011.

The most outlandish stage entrance in the ceremony’s history, she delighted those in attendance with her metaphorical rebirth before a performance of Born This Way.

Gaga later claimed to have spent an incredible 72 hours inside the enormous egg, an act she described as a ‘creative embryonic incubation’ that gave her time to ‘think about the meaning’ of her GRAMMY performance.

Michael Jackson’s thrilling night (1984)

The King of Pop made history at the 1984 Grammys when he won a whopping eight awards in one night – a record yet to be beaten.

The wins were just what Michael needed to lift his spirts as he was still recovering from a freak accident in which he’d set his hair on fire filming a Pepsi commercial.

More than 51 million viewers tuned in to watch Michael’s big win – the highest number of viewers in Grammys history.

Eminem and Elton John’s unlikely duet (2001)

The stage was set for a dramatic and otherwise unlikely collaboration when Eminem joined Sir Elton John for a duet in 2001.

With accusations of homophobia aimed at Eminem prior to the event, the rapper had a point to prove with the performance, a version of hit single Stan.

Sir Elton – a huge fan of the rapper – disregarded condemnation from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation group by playing keyboards and providing backing vocals throughout.

It’s a nice day for 33 weddings (2014)

Thirty-three gay and straight couples were married live at the 2014 Grammy Awards as they celebrated the Defense of Marriage Act being struck down and scores of states legalized same-sex unions.

Queen Latifah officiated the mass wedding during Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ powerful rendition of their song Same Love, which had become a marriage equality anthem.

Following the vows, delivered as the stage was transformed into a makeshift church, with an alter and stained glass windows, Madonna, wearing a white suit and hat, performed Open Your Heart to a standing ovation and tears from not just the brides and grooms but celebrity guests including Keith Urban.

Taylor Swift takes a swipe at Kanye West (2016)

Taylor Swift’s long-running feud with Kanye West came to a head at the 2016 Grammys when she called him out on live TV.

Just days before Kanye had infuriated the pop star after he released a track about having sex with her and claimed he made ‘that b***h famous’ with his 2009 MTV Awards stage invasion.

Taylor responded with a very thinly-veiled dig where she pointedly said that when you’re a young woman people will ‘try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments’.
