Tory Lanez has been denied a new trial after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez sought a new trial after he was found guilty of shooting hip-hop superstar Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020.
Last December, the rapper was found guilty of three charges related to the shooting in the Hollywood Hills.
Lanez had pleaded not guilty to assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. However, the jury convicted him on all three counts.
The 30-year-old rapper, who is currently in jail, now awaits sentencing.
His request for a new trial was rejected by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford on Tuesday.
Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, will be sentenced on June 13, per reporter Meghann Cuniff.
In Peterson’s motion for a new trial, his attorneys Jose Baez and Matthew Barhoma said that the judge “erroneously allowed” for jurors to view an Instagram comment from Lanez’s personal account that refuted claims that Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris was the shooter.
