Princess Anne, born August 15, 1950, is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and the late Prince Philip. Anne has been involved with royal duties since she was 18 years old and works with nearly 300 charitable organizations, per Town & Country.
The 70-year-old released a statement after her father Prince Philip’s death on April 9, 2021, and it’s clear she misses him. As she told ITV, “without him, life will be completely different.” “But from society’s perspective, he was able to keep pace with the kind of technological changes that have such an impact… but above all that it’s not about the technology, it’s about the people,” she added.
Anne is currently married to Sir Timothy Laurence, but was previously married to Captain Mark Phillips, per Town & Country. The former couples share twos children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips. Keep reading for more details to see what her son, Peter, is really like.
Peter Phillips does not have a royal title
Peter Phillips was born on November 15, 1977. His parents, Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, reportedly turned down a title when he was born so he would have a more “normal” life, per Hollywood Life. “Both the princess and her husband are said to have rejected an offer from the Queen of titles which would have enabled their children to be born into the peerage,” per the BBC.
In 2008, Peter married Autumn Kelly and they welcomed their first daughter, Savannah in 2010. The couple had a second daughter, Isla in 2012. According to Town & Country, they split up in 2019 but remained committed to co-parenting their daughters. “After informing HM The Queen and members of both families last year, Peter and Autumn jointly agreed to separate,” the former couple’s statement read. “Both families were naturally sad at the announcement, but fully supportive of Peter and Autumn in the joint decision to co-parent their children. Both Peter and Autumn will remain in Gloucestershire to bring up their two children where they have been settled for a number of years.”
Although Peter is a working royal, he has a life outside the palace. According to Hollywood Life, he has held roles at Jaguar, Williams F1 racing team, the Royal Bank of Scotland and is currently working at SEL U.K. And at Prince Philip’s funeral on April 17, 2021, he will be walking between Prince William and Prince Harry to minimize any “awkward moments,” per Yahoo! News.
