Several TV shows have had to halt production over the last couple of weeks!
The reasoning is due to the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) going on strike as they seek fair pay for screenwriters.
The strike came on after negotiations stalled between the WGA and studios,
While writers have gone on strike, even picketing outside of Hollywood and New York studios, many actors have also joined the picket lines, showing their support for the writers.
This is the first writer’s strike in more than 15 years, and the last time it happened, there was a major impact on many popular shows at the time.
Shows being affected by the writer’s strike this year include late night talk shows like The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show, the MTV Movie & TV Awards and many more.
There are also some Disney, Freeform and Netflix YA shows that have had to pause production.
