Canali for fall further developed the tripartite division the brand introduced a year ago: Canali 1934, Exclusive and Black Edition.
The three segments took inspiration from the ‘70s, nodding to a decade of experimentation, freedom and evolution, said president and chief executive officer Stefano Canali. While the collection took into account men’s need to feel comfortable, with soft and unstructured designs, Canali underscored that “perfect execution is fundamental to avoid betraying the brand and its customers.” He added that “cocooning” was the fil rouge that connected the three divisions, increasingly a must in these times.
The brand revisited tricot and jacquard workmanship in soft sweaters in geometric patterns. Corduroy pants and leather biker jackets were also new.

In Canali 1934, the safari jacket and the car coat were shown with a houndstooth motif, also in a macro key on knits.
Luxurious leather details enriched the jackets, combining napa and suede in shades of burgundy with contrasting stitching.
The belted trenchcoat — a key Canali item — was updated through the use of velvet or a ’70s-inspired wool-cashmere blend.
Once again, Canali banked on its signature Shacket, which combines the silhouette of a sartorial jacket with the construction of a shirt, presented for fall with mother-of-pearl buttons and rounded cuffs.
A modern dandy was central to the Exclusive collection, with three-piece suits with vests or suits with soft shawl lapels. The ‘70s trend was evoked via inlays, braids, rhomboidal geometries and zigzags. The color palette ranged from cream shades and moss green to dove grey, blue, off-white and bright white.
Peacoats were presented in curly-haired brushed sheepskin, jersey in a lightened wool-silk blend with natural stretch. Quilted parkas came in a luxurious water-proof wool-cashmere twill.
Speed sports were an inspiration for the Black Edition in a color palette ranging from racing red to electric blue. A blazer with defined lines at the waist, double stitching on the sleeves, front closure with snap buttons and flap pockets had a casual ease. Mountain motifs, argyle and Fair Isle patterns decorated sweaters and hooded sweatshirts.
Canali has succeeded in evolving the collection with the times while maintaining its luxurious quality and craftsmanship.
