DIY fanatic overhauls 80’s kitchen by painting EVERYTHING, even the tiles, with £25 paint

IF YOU'RE looking for a way to overhaul your kitchen without spending a fortune, then a tin of paint might just be your answer.

Instead of splashing out on new units, worktops and tiles, why not just give the ones you do have a facelift? That's what one interiors fan did to transform her dated kitchen into something so much more stylish.

TikTok user Lucy (@lucys_hillside_house) is a self-confessed lover of all things home renovation and interiors, and she decided to tackle her kitchen on a budget, using nothing but paint.

Fed up with the coloured tiled splashblacks and dull kitchen units, Lucy invested in a £25 pot of Ronseal One Coat Tile Paint, a tin of Rust-oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint (£14, B&Q) and a tin of Rust-oleum Furniture Finishing Wax (£12, B&Q).

Sharing a video online – that has been watched nearly 4million times – of her kitchen transformation, she joked: "When I tell my husband I'm painting the kitchen."

She covered the tiles in a grey shade of paint and freshened up her cupboards with a white paint all over.

In a follow-up video, Lucy revealed how she transformed her kitchen cupboard doors and explained she coated each unit with two coats of white chalk paint, before finishing with two coats of wax seal.

She added a matching grey and white patterned rug to the wooden floor and finished off her new-look kitchen with fairy lights around the window and floating shelves to the side.

The whole renovation process involved just three cans of paint for a purse-friendly total of £51.

Viewers were left impressed with Lucy's before and after results, with one person commenting: "It looks so much better."

Another said: "That's literally the best choice u have made. I LOVE IT!!!"

While some people preferred the original kitchen stating it had more personality than the on-trend grey and white theme Lucy opted for, others were convinced the newly-painted kitchen was a good choice.

"I think it looks beautiful!!! Not sure why people feel the need to put someone else's choices down," one person posted. "It is your house and you can do what you want."

A fourth said: "I love the after, the before does not match your style at all! This is such a good fit and I personally would do the same thing."

Meanwhile, one woman transformed her kitchen in just ONE DAY and people can't tell it's the same room.

Plus, these parents transformed their garden shed into a two-storey playroom for their three-year-old daughter – and it's SO pretty.

And one DIY fan has shared a savvy mirror hack that will instantly make your room look twice as big.
