A WOMAN has revealed that her family-of-six ditched the city life and now live in a shed in the middle of the woods.
In June 2020, after facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic, Jessica Taylor (@livingtinyhomestead) and her husband, Lath, decided to leave behind the comforts of their three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Northwest Arkansas, United States.
The family instead moved into a tiny home in the woods – a 500-square-foot tool shed.
Sharing details about her life on social media, Jessica explained: “When you left your whole life in the city to live in a shed in the woods.
“You use an outhouse, wash dishes and shower outside.
“Homeschool your kids, grow and can your own food and trade and barter with your neighbours.”

The family’s two-story shed has electricity, running water, a heat/cooling system, a 65-inch flat-screen television, a stainless steel fridge, an electric stove and fold out futons that the brood use as beds.
Jessica bought the wooden workshop for $6,000 [£4,900] and then invested another $7,000 [£5,725] in renovations, which included adding a staircase that leads to its lofted area, privacy walls and an outdoor porch.
They also invested in a $4,000 [£3,270] well, which supplies them with water for drinking, cleaning and showering.
With kids ranging in age from 3 to 9, the family now live an “affordable” lifestyle.

Jessica took to TikTok and explained: “We’ve used off-grid options like an outdoor sink and composting toilet to give us time to save.
“This has allowed us to comfortably afford for me to stay home with our kids full-time for the first-time and has allowed me to focus on slowly producing and preserving more food from the homestead while my husband works.
“Our home has come a long way, with still a way to go.
“It’s taught us so much about truly appreciating each luxury that we add to our home and makes us even more grateful each time we get another step closer to our finished homestead.”
While Jessica loves her unique lifestyle, she explained that it can be very scary and loud at night.
She noted: “When you have an outdoor bathroom and have to pee at night and your dog starts barking at something in the woods.”
Alongside this clip, Jessica attached an audio that said: “I’m so f*****g scared right now. You shut up.”
However, social media users were left very impressed at Jessica’s shed life and were eager to reflect this in the comments.
One person said: “That sounds like a wonderful life. I hope you have much happiness.”
Another added: “I’dd love to do this!”
