I DIY dyed my hair & it was a complete disaster – trolls say I failed so hard I look like David Bowie | The Sun

HENNA hair dye seemed like a great idea to one young woman, until her hair became the colour of a highlighter pen.

Mykela was mortified to discover that, after applying henna to her head, her locks had transformed from bleach blonde to neon orange.

The poor woman was left speechless by the mishap and everyone says she looks just like David Bowie.

Mykela decided to share the clip online so that everyone can see her new look.

The video begins with Mykela in her bathroom, showing off her freshly bleached blonde hair.

She explains: “I bleached my hair and I’m going to dye it with all-natural henna.”

Mykela holds up a packet of henna, which reads ‘natural red’.

“I’m going for a red colour but I don’t know how it’s going to play out.”

She pours hot black tea into a heat-safe glass bowl and reads the next instruction.

“It says to use apple cider vinegar or lemon juice and the more you use of either ingredient, the deeper the end results will be,” she says.

“I want a strawberry blonde, so what do we mean by deeper?” she asks, confused.

Mykela opts for two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and pours it into the mixture…then realises her mistake.

“I only have half the amount of hair for this mix, so I shouldn’t have done this much apple cider vinegar but c’est la vie,” she says.

She mixes the tea and vinegar with the henna and cling films the mixture for eight to ten hours.

The next morning, Mykela applies all the henna to her hair and lets it sit for a few hours.

Then comes the transformation.

After showering, Mykela takes off her towel turban and the results are shocking.

“Oh my god, I look like that kid from the Rugrats,” she exclaims hysterically, showing off her neon orange hair.

“This is like uber permanent, so I guess this is the colour we’re going with.”

Hundreds of Mykela’s followers commented on her clip with their own reactions.

One user replied: “Honey you missed auburn big time.”

A second said: “It’s giving David Bowie the Ziggy Stardust years.”
