I gave my boring, beige staircase a glow-up for just £100 and people are stunned at how good it looks | The Sun

A DIY pro has revealed how she gave her staircase a modern glow-up for just £100 – and people can’t believe how expensive it looks.

Melissa, known online as @melissaevans80, shared how she transformed her hallway using some white paint and a £66 stair runner.

TikTok fans loved the finished product, with many finding it hard to believe she spent less than £70 on her new carpet.

In a new reel, she said: “Transforming our stairs with £100 budget.”

During the 26-second video, Melissa walks her followers through how did it with the help of her partner and her dog.

She started by removing the carpet and any nails that had been reused to secure it to the staircase before, off camera, sanding down each step.

The DIY pro then painted both sides of the staircase in a fresh, white colour.

Next, with the help of her boyfriend, Melissa installed a luxe-looking chevron-printed runner, which slightly overlapped the parts she’d painted, and secured this in place using an upholstery staple gun.

In the comments she confirmed that the project wasn’t quite finished, adding: “Yes so I’m going to save up for stair bars as they are pricey.

“And going to get some better staples this weekend as ours were flimsy!”
