I lost 20lbs without going to the gym the three simple weight loss tips I swear by that saw the pounds drop off | The Sun

WHEN it comes to losing weight, many people make the mistake of thinking you have to spend thousands by signing up to the gym.

But one woman has told how that's not the case – after she shed an impressive 20lbs by following three simple tips.

In a clip shared to TikTok (@izzyutterson), Izzy Utterson shares the three things she did to lose weight that weren't going to the gym.

She starts by saying the first one is actually the opposite of going to the gym.

"When I was on my weight loss journey, at the beginning I was doing hardcore cardio, loads of hip workouts, those workout classes that would just like burn you out," she explains.

"But that had the opposite effect on me – it was stressing my body out and causing me to hold onto weight because I wasn't getting enough sleep.

She goes on to say how she instead found reformer Pilates, weight training and walking.

"Somewhere between 7k and 10k steps a day was where I saw the biggest game changer," she explains.

"In terms of the initial weight loss, this was definitely a huge help to me.

"I'm not saying you should never go to the gym, I'm just saying find a workout that works for you and don't stress your body out by doing like hardcore workouts all the time

"If you're noticing you've got stubborn fat that's not going, even though you're going to the gym three, four, five times a week, try pulling it back.

"Try a more gentle workout – up your steps to 7k to 10k steps a day or more and see how you get on."

Izzy goes onto say her second tip is volume eating.

"So this was a game changer for me as well," she explains.

"I often found in the initial stage to try to lose weight, I was always hungry…

It didn't matter if I tried to diet and restrict what I ate, it just didn't work.

"So what I did instead was I would get loads of veggies like cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and that kind of thing.

"I'd fill half my plate or more with those vegetables and then I'd have my protein, my carbs, whatever that might be.

"But you'd have less of that – like a good portion of protein, maybe half or third of the carbs I was having before, and then the veggies would make up the volume.

"They make you full so you don't feel unsatisfied afterwards

"It's just about a mindset shift of portion control pretty much."

Finally, Izzy's third tip is to drink more water.

"A lot of the time when we think we're really hungry, we're actually really thirsty," she explains.

"Give that a go initially and obviously if you're still hungry, eat and listen to your body…I'd never tell you not to do that, but consistently drink water throughout the day, like 2-3 litres a day."

The video has since racked up thousands of views and several comments from social media users.
