I was told I was too fat to follow my dreams – now I get paid to be a plus-size mermaid | The Sun

A MUM told how she defied the haters to become a professional, plus-size Mermaid.

Danielle Cecil revealed she was told she was far too big to follow her dreams as a kid.

But she now lives her perfect life as she gets paid to be a mermaid and amazes youngsters and adults at parties and events.

Danielle said: “Society says to hate myself because I’m fat. But are you serious?

“I’ve overcome everything sent to end me.

“I get paid to be a mermaid and have the time and freedom to live the life I’ve always wanted.

“When I was young I was told I couldn’t do ballet because I was too big. Same with gymnastics.

“Imagine what they would have told me if I said I wanted to be a mermaid?”

Danielle lives out her dreams every day as her alter-ego, Mermaid Kehlani.

She clocks up at least 3,000 miles every month as she drives to the perfect spots to test out her fins.

Danielle revealed she’ll consider all requests including performing backflips, tail flips, and even mermaid piggyback rides.

She is on a mission to let everyone know that they can achieve whatever they want if they put their minds to it.

Danielle said: “I look forward to inspiring people all over to live life to the fullest in whatever body they are in.

“My goal is to encourage and uplift people of all sizes to get up and get active.

“Nature is calling you but you’re afraid of what people will think or say about your body. So what. Let them talk. You deserve happiness. You deserve to experience the world. Go out and live.”
