I'm a single mum of four & a model, people can never guess my second job, men always want to date me because of it | The Sun

AFTER becoming a mum and separating from your partner many may find it difficult to get back onto the dating scene again.

There are currently around 2.9 million lone parent families in the UK, according to the Office for National Statistics.

And this number has not changed much since 2008 when there were 2.8 million single parent households.

Single mums face a range of barriers when it comes to dating, with their main challenge being finding the time to get back out there, according to eharmony.

More than half of single mums take at least five years to date again.

In fact, two thirds (67%) say they have been judged for having children by a potential partner.

Lexi, who goes by the name of Lexi.Slay on TikTok, has over 118k followers.

She recently uploaded a video filming herself with a narration in the background.

Lexi captioned it: “Single mom (SIC) problems)”.

To which Lexi mimes:”It’s hard.”

The video attracted over 3,000 people liking it, as well as many rushing to the comments section.

One male wrote: “Wow well I’d for sure try to date you bv (SIC) you are worth it.”

Rachael Lloyd, relationship expert at eharmony, offers her dating advice for single mums on how to enter the dating scene with an empowered mindset.

She says: “It can be easy for single parents to fall into the trap of downplaying what they want and settling for something casual in pursuit of not looking needy or too demanding.

“Loneliness can also lead to over compromising.

“Ultimately, you’re worthy of communicating what you want from a relationship and if your new partner cannot fulfil this criteria then be bold and express that this arrangement does not work for you.
