I’m fed up of my daughter’s room ALWAYS being messy so created a mini-jail – I’ve locked away her clothes & toys

NAGGING a child to tidy their room is an exhausting process for any parent.

But tired of having the same conversation and to no avail, TikTok user Holly Brooke, from the US, decided to take matters into her own hands and turn her daughter's room into a mini prison as a form of punishment.

In the video, she explains: "On another episode of mean mum TikTok, we are turning my child’s room into a little mini jail.

I know this will probably p*** a couple of Gen Z’s off, but this is how we’re doing it in my house."

She went on to explain how she's given her daughter, who is a pre-teen, a week’s notice to clean her room.

"She knows how to clean. We have trained her to clean and I have cleaned her room multiple times – she just chooses not to," she continues.

Then, she zooms to the window where her daughter can be seen laughing and joking with friends outside and adds: "She had a deadline today of 12 o’clock and here she is outside playing instead."

Not letting this one slide, Holly says she's taking away all of her clothes, toys, makeup and all of her "fun stuff" – adding that all she has left are books and her shoes.

I’m sick of people blocking my drive – so I leave extreme notes to shame them

"I’m going to be picking out one outfit a day for her to wear and she has to wear it and that’s about it," she continues.

"She’ll get her stuff back in stages and I’m going to go through most her toys and get rid of a lot of them.

"Until then this is how it’s going to be because I’m tired of speaking over and over again about cleaning and she just doesn’t.”

And many were quick to take to the comments section – with one questioning whether this was "for real."

"You should help her clean instead of just her cleaning and enforce it," suggested one, while a second commented: "You’re not teaching them anything, you’re just loosing their trust."

A third added: "Some of y’all should not be parents. she’ll remember this and may not want anything to do with you once she’s older especially while she’s a preteen?"

Elsewhere, a fourth warned: "My parents do this to me and it taught me nothing but to fear them and lock my door and stay in my room."
