PANCAKE Day is finally here and luckily for you, a food fan has taken to social media to reveal how to make the fluffiest American pancakes.

Many Brits up and down the country will be sure to tuck into a stack of pancakes tonight to celebrate Shrove Tuesday – whether that be thin and crispy crepes or thick and fluffy American style pancakes.


If American pancakes are more your thing, you’ll want to start taking notes.

According to Remi, who posts on TikTok under the username @foodbyremi, she has a simple recipe to create the most delicious and fluffiest pancakes.

And it’s all thanks to a secret ingredient that many people forget to add.

The food fan, who is known as Remi ‘the food gal’, shared her clip with the caption ‘I’ve made the fluffiest American Style Pancakes you’ll ever eat.’

To make Remi’s pancakes, you will need 150g self-raising flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, three tablespoons of sugar (caster or granulated), 150ml milk and one egg. 

She explained: “Make the fluffiest American style pancakes with only five ingredients.

“Start by combining your self raising flour and sugar together and then add one egg and 150ml of milk.

“The most important part for the pancake is active baking powder, so make sure yours has that.

“I then make sure the batter is nice and thick.”

Once the batter is ready, Remi heated up a frying pan with some oil, before adding a big scoop of the mixture. 

She continued:  “Wait a minute and flip them over.

“I enjoy mine with golden syrup and butter, but let me know what you will use in the comments below.” 

Remi posted her video just 19 hours ago, but it has clearly impressed many as it has quickly amassed 26.7k views.

It has 1,733 likes, 37 comments and 57 shares.

Social media users were left open-mouthed at the pancakes and were eager to express this in the comments. 

One person said: “Liveeeee for these.” 

Another added: “Yeah these are legit.”

A third commented: “My god I need to try these.”

Whilst someone else added: “They look PERFECTTT.”

Meanwhile, one user asked: “How do you activate the baking powder, is it just stirring it in well?” to which Remi explained “it just needs to be active! 

“You can do this by making sure your baking powder is in date or by putting it with some vinegar and see if it reacts.”
