Mum slammed for preparing kid's packed lunch FIVE weeks in advance – everyone’s saying the same thing about the sarnies | The Sun

A MUM has been slammed for packing her child’s lunches FIVE weeks in advance.

She prepares a whopping 27 sandwiches in one go for her kid to take to school in the morning.

Elise, whose surname wasn’t reported by the Daily Mail, batch makes the sandwiches and sticks them in the freezer.

She lets them defrost overnight before putting them in her child’s lunchboxes in the morning.

The mum has found herself caught in the middle of a social media storm after people questioned if she was letting her kid take “soggy sandwiches” to school.

She shared the “time-saving hack” on a popular Facebook group.

But it left hundreds of parents scratching their heads.

Many questioned how the sandwiches hold up in the freezer and whether they ended up soggy once defrosted.

As well as soggy bread, people feared the fillings would still be frozen and the sandwich might have “a funny taste”.

One said: “I didn't realise ham was safe to freeze and eat defrosted.”

Another added: “I've never frozen a sandwich, I just don't think they will taste the same defrosted.

“Is the bread soggy or still taste fresh?”

Elise lets her child choose the filling and uses things like corned beef, cold roast lamb, poached chicken and cheese.

Responding to the controversy, she said: “Just to be clear; I don't expect my child to eat soggy sandwiches.

“They defrost well overnight.

“I also don't expect my child to eat frozen sandwiches.

“They are defrosted the night before.'

The mum added that the key to stopping the bread going soggy is by using “foods with a low water content”.

Therefore, she forgoes putting classic sandwich fillers like lettuce and cucumber in the freezer.
