Palace staff were ‘apprehensive’ when Prince Harry met Meghan Markle as she was ‘opposite to the quiet life he craved’

PALACE staff were said to have been ‘apprehensive’ when Prince Harry starting dating Meghan Markle as she was complete opposite of the ‘quiet life’ he dreamed of.

The bombshell claims were revealed amid The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s entering a ‘transition’ period after stepping down as senior royals.

The parents to eight-month-old Archie released a sensational statement last week, where they also said they were striving to be ‘financially independent’.

Meghan, 38, has returned to Canada while Prince Harry, 35, has dealt with the fall-out, which involved crisis talks with the Queen and Prince William at Sandringham.

But while the announcement may have come as a shock to some, it’s thought eyebrows have been raised about Meghan for some time.

A royal insider claims that palace staff were “apprehensive but willing to see how things panned out” after Prince Harry met Meghan.

The source told the Mirror: “There was a lot of excitement about Meghan’s introduction but it’s fair to say there were more than a few murmurings to the contrary.

“The feeling was one of concern for Harry more than anything else. He’s long craved a quiet life, away from the attention that being a royal brought.

“Yet somehow it seemed he had chosen someone who came from the complete opposite of the world he wanted, not to mention someone who would struggle with the boredom of royal life he often bemoaned.”

Meghan changed her entire life to marry Prince Harry, including quitting her job as an actress, shutting down her social media profiles and moving to the UK.

She had been living in Toronto, Canada, for seven years where Suits, the legal drama she starred in, was filmed, up until she met Prince Harry.

It’s thought the couple could make the Commonwealth country their second base, after spending six weeks there over Christmas.

Meghan was recently spotted in Vancouver, as she boarded a sea plane after visiting Charity Downtown Eastside Women's Centre.

The centre shared a snap on social media, saying: “Look who we had tea with today!

"The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, visited us today to discuss issues affecting women in the community."

It’s thought Prince Harry will fly out in the coming days to join Meghan and baby Archie in the plush $14 million mansion they’ve been renting.
