People mispronounce my name all the time because it’s so unusual, I don’t even bother correcting them any more | The Sun

A WOMAN who has a very unusual first and surname doesn't even bother correcting people anymore when they pronounce it wrong.

Sjana took to TikTok to share a video explaining that she constantly runs into issues because her name is pronounced so differently to the way it's spelt.

"I don’t know if this is just me but I have a very hard name to spell and pronounce, and it is not pronounced the way that it is spelt," she said.

"So every time that I am at a store, or I buy something and put in an order and then they ask me, ‘What’s your name?’ so that they can call it out when it’s ready, I tell them my name and then they say ‘How is that spelt?’

"And I just say, ‘However you want to spell it’.

"Because there’s not a chance in hell that if I give them the actual spelling that they’re going to call out the right name when my order’s ready.

"Is anyone else in that same boat? And what do you choose to do?

"Maybe I should just come up with a new way of spelling my name, just for orders."

In another video, Sjana revealed the correct way to pronounce her name rhymes with banana or Nirvana.

And her surname is Earp – like Western hero Wyatt Earp, with Earp rhyming with burp.
