There is increasing number of influencers, celebrities and even bitcoin traders who had attracted thieves and criminals online just by posting their extravagant lifestyle online. Research suggests that there are about eight percent of people that can be targeted by thieves and criminals just by watching their every move on Social Media.

Italian social media star has been targeted by thieves while she was on a vacation and out of the house. The influencer has about 505,000 followers on Instagram where she regularly posts her daily activities including her travels and modeling photoshoots. The criminals known as the acrobat thieves which consists of four men based in Milan has been spying her social media account. Upon checking her post on Instagram, the group was certain she was not at home at the time of their robbery that is why they chose to do it. The criminals also figured a way inside her house after she posted details of it on her instagram. The group watched Incardona leave her flat last December and she even made an announcement on her social media that she just left her home. This made the gang knew for a fact that she will be gone for quite some time which made their plan easier.

7 Kieren Hamilton

Kieren Hamilton earned his money through trading cryptocurrency which really paid off as seen on his posts on Instagram where his luxury cars and extravagant vacations can be seen. He has been posting numerous pictures while on a holiday, in nightclubs and even his shopping sprees. Things turned into something dark when he the 21 year old trader was attacked at his house in Greater Manchester while he was inside with his baby. The two machete-wielding thieves who attached their house on January 5, 2018 knew exactly what to get as he posted numerous luxurious items on his instagram. The thieves got his gold wedding ring , his gold bracelets, an Apple MacBook laptop and even his French Bulldog named Rambo that was worth about $1,400.

6 Giulia Diletta Leotta

Italian television presenter Giulia Diletta Leotta was also targeted by the acrobat thieves who are notorious for targeting celebrities based in Milan. The theft happened while she was at a local restaurant dining with some people which can be seen on her Instagram stories at the time. The criminal activity took place in 2020 and the group was luckily arrested in June 2020. The thieves have entered her home after breaking a trap door that got them access to the roof. They reported got about $180,000 of valuables from Leotta’s house including including Rolexes, jewelries, and cash on her safe.

Hong Kong celebrity So Mei-yan occasionally uses her Instagram to post pictures of her son. With luck not on her side, she was made target by the thieves upon seeing her posts on her social media. The thieves knew that she was only home with her son and a nanny which made her an easy target for them. The robbers ended up getting approximately $1.29 million worth of items from her home.

4 Achraf Hakimi

Footballer Achraf Hakimi was originally from Morocco who transferred to Milan from the Real Madrid in September 2020. Just like those who got robbed in Milan, he was also targeted and robbed by the infamous acrobat thieves. The thieves used his Instagram posts to track his current location. Once they are certain that he was not home, they immediately started their plan. There is no estimate as to how much items were stolen from Hakimi but it was reported that he lost several watches from the incident.

3 Troy ‘Candy’ Williams

Entrepreneur Troy Williams who was given the nickname Candy and Candyman 2.0 was also targeted by robbers through his social media posts. The Gold Coast influencer had his car trashed by a gang of youths who later on posted the video of it on Instagram and even tagged him. The video shows that the teenagers are ransacking his turquoise Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe which retails for about $130,000. With the help of his followers, he was able to track the names and addresses of the gang who trashed his car. However he did not go to the police with it after talking to the parents of the gang, he said that seeing the parents break down in tears made him decide not to press charges.

Famous Youtuber Nikkie de Jager who has about 13.8 million subscribers usually posts photos of herself enjoying a lavish vacation. Little did she know that this incident will lead to a very traumatic incident. The incident what happened last December where she detailed that the robbery took place in her own house in Uden and revealed she was held at gunpoint with her husband. He only shared the incident last December when she found that the police have already arrested the thieves but the incident happened in August 2020.

Kim Kardashian was robbed in Paris and it is her social media to be blamed for the incident. It is by far the most highly publicized crimes that happened because of Social Media. Kim was flaunting her 20-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring on Instagram during the Paris Fashion Week which was estimated to be about $4 million. Using her social media posts, the French thieves used the information from it to their advantage. Her posts made it easy for the thieves to track her movements and were able to break into the room where she was and held her at gunpoint. It was estimated that the jewelries that they got from her was about $10.6 million.
