The Echo Show 8 is a smart display that features an 8" HD screen and stereo sound.
The device itself is quite compact, measuring 7.89 x 5.35 x 3.9" (200.4 x 135.9 x 99.1 mm), and weighs only 2.29 lb (1.04 kg).
It can be voice-controlled via Alexa and can perform a number of functions.
These include video calling and messaging, showing TV programs and controlling your smart home devices.
The displayed content can also be customised to show photo albums, to-do lists, or cooking recipes.
To enhance user privacy, the Echo Show 8 also allows for the microphones and camera to be disconnected electronically, respectively via a dedicated button, and a built-in camera cover.

Amazon has since released a new version of the Echo Show 8 this year.
The newest Echo Show 8 offers an improved front camera and a faster processor, but lacks the 3.5mm audio output, which can be found in the 2019 version.
The 2021 model also costs more, currently selling on Amazon for £84.99.
