Earlier this week it was announced that singer Darius Campbell Danesh hadtragically passed away at the age of 41 after being found dead at his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota.
The Pop Idol star, who found fame on the singing competition back in 2001, died on 11 August and since then famous faces from across the globe have shared their own heartfelt messages about his passing.
Following his stint on Pop Idol, Darius achieved success not only as a popstar but as an actor, film producer and theatre performer too. As a result, the Colourblind hitmaker gained friends from across the world of showbiz.
After shooting to fame, Darius met actress Natasha Henstridge, who is famous for starring in the sci-fi thriller Species, and the pair tied the knot on Valentine’s Day in 2011, though sadly divorced in 2018.
Then in 2011, Darius starred as Billy Flynn in the West End production of Chicago and performed alongside American TV star America Ferrera.
Known for her role in Ugly Betty, America and Darius were often pictured laughing and joking as they promoted the production together.
After moving to the US, Darius continued acting and the relocation allowed him to meet Hollywood stars Rosario Dawson and Gerard Butler, with Rosario paying tribute to her late friend.
Posting a picture of herself being kissed on the cheek by Darius and Gerard, she wrote: “Great Scot! Beloved Darius, you have left us reeling in a state of shock and sadness that are as palpable as your hugs and laughter were.”
She continued: “You were one of the greats. A giant among us, your loving, generous kindness will not be forgotten. Allowing my tears but continuously checking them to uplift your spirit in celebration because you deserve it so.
“You've touched the hearts and minds of so many with your light and that is how I want to honor and remember you. We love you forever Darius.”
According to reportsthe singer was visited by 52 year old Gerard just days before his untimely death and the pair allegedly became close friends in recent months.
Elsewhere, Darius is also believed to have called Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson a friend of his after the pair were pictured linking arms while on holiday together in Portofino in 2019.
And during an 2017 appearance on Loose Women, Darius revealed that he had a close relationship with Gavin and Stacey actress Sheridan Smith.
“Sheridan is one of my mates, and someone that I completely adore. We support one another. She got a lot of press, because people were interested in what was going on with her,” he said.
“Sheridan is someone with an incredible spirit and a driving force and for her to come back not only after her father passed, but to be able to so with such grace and amazing showmanship, I love Sheridan and we've got a great friendship.”
Among the tributes paid to the late star, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin revealed that Darius was an “old friend” of the band as he dedicated their Wembley concert to the Pop Idol contestant.
Taking to the stage, he said: “We are going to send love from Wembley out to the world. We are going to send to Darius’ family – our old friend Darius – and to Ukraine.”
Elsewhere, former Love Island contestant Amy Hart explained that she’d called Darius a close friend of hers though had lost touch with him in recent years.
In a post shared to her Instagram Story, she wrote: “Thanks for caring and being my friend when I was an air hostess from Worthing. Nothing to gain from our friendship (except my top quality voice notes obvs).
“But still wanted to be my mate. Could have hung out with anyone but would take me and my mum for dinner or drag Luke and I out clubbing. Hadn't spoken for a few years but the best memories. So sad.”
