A teenage royal considered to be one of Europe’s most eligible young bachelors turns 18 this weekend – and will celebrate the milestone birthday with a lavish gala.
Prince Christian, the heir to the Danish throne, will host the event at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen.
And details of the event – including the dress code and some of the confirmed guests – continue to emerge, with the prince reportedly not wanting guests to bring him presents, and photos not allowed.
The party, which promises to be one of the glitziest events on the social calendar, will see hundreds of well-heeled guests from across the commonwealth in attendance.
Attendance has been confirmed by a number of guests so far.

The young royal will celebrate with a glitzy gala, which has a white tie and tiara dress code, and a guest list featuring members of several European royal families
A video (pictured) recently shared on the Danish royal family’s official Instagram showed hundreds of invitations for the gala being printed and put in envelopes
Prince Christian’s godfather – Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon – will be at gala, as will Haakin’s daughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 19.
Another of Christian’s godparents – Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden – has also confirmed her attendance, alongside her husband Prince Daniel and their 11-year-old daughter Princess Estelle.
Other European royals who may join them at the gala include Queen Maxima of the Netherlands with her husband King Willem Alexander, and their oldest two daughters Princess Catharina-Amalia, 19, and Princess Alexia, 18.
And further possible guests include Princess Leonor of Spain, 17, and Princess Elisabeth, 21, of Belgium.
In addition to royals, it is expected that guests will include notable young people and representatives from youth organisations.
It is known that the guest list is extensive: the Danish Royal Household recently posted a video on Instagram, showing hundreds of invitations being printed, and put in envelopes, before being dispatched.
Accompanying the clip was a caption which said: ‘Then there is mail!
‘Several hundred invitations were sent out from Amalienborg today. The recipients are the many guests who have been invited to Her Majesty the Queen’s gala dinner on the occasion of His Royal Highness Prince Christian’s 18th birthday on 15 October.’

Royal watchers have speculated over whether Princess Chiara will attend the event, after rumours that the pair are enjoying a romance – although Chiara now appears to have denied the rumours
Speculation that Christian and Chiara were were dating began in May when a group photo emerged on social media of the duo, far right, standing close together at the Monaco Grand Prix
Further details about the bash have been revealed, with an invitation to the gala being shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Gert’s Royals.
According to the invitation, the dress code will be white tie with honours, with tiaras permitted – meaning some impressive gems may be on show.
What many royal watchers will be keen to know, is whether Princess Marie Chiara of Bourbon-Two-Sicilies be invited to the dinner, hosted by Queen Margrethe.
Prince Christian has been Princess Maria Chiara – from the defunct Italian royal family – in recent months.
Rumours that Chiara, 18, and Christian were close began when the two were pictured together at the Monaco grand prix earlier this year.
Neither her sister, Princess Carolina, nor mother, Duchess Camilla, did anything to dispel the rumours.
The three women maintained a heavy Instagram presence over the summer, with Camilla – nicknamed the ‘Momager’ – snapped in the company of Prince Michael of Kent at an exclusive beachside bar on the Cote d’Azur.
Christian, who is a four-times great grandson of Queen Victoria and fifth cousins with Prince William and Harry, has previously taken time away from royal duty to focus on his studies
Set to air on the eve of his birthday in Denmark, the Prince’s documentary will see him learn about institutions in Danish society and give and insight into his relationship with his father
For the first time, a new documentary will give an insight into the teenager’s life – which the palace have said is Danes chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with the prince like never before
Eventually Chiara took to Instagram and appeared to dismiss the speculation, saying ‘while we all enjoy dreaming of fairytales, what truly matters is reality.’
Meanwhile, the Danish royal family remained quiet on the speculation – and are now continuing with the stiff upper lip.
Chiara told Italian paper Corriere: ‘We’ve known each other since we were little, my father Carlo is godfather to his younger sister.’
Her father Prince Carlo holds a claim to the now defunct throne of the former House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, a cadet branch of the Spanish royal family. While, her mother, Duchess Camilla, is the daughter of Italian industry Tycoon Camilla Crociani.
As well as the gala, on the eve of Christian’s birthday, a documentary giving an insight into the teenager’s life will be broadcast to mark his milestone birthday.
According to the palace, the production will give Danes the chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with the prince like never before.
It will show the royal learn about institutions in Danish society and give and insight into his relationship with his father.

‘Together, they undertake this adventure with a clear mission: to ensure that Prince Christian knows better the country of which he will one day be king,’ the Palace said in a statement.
The documentary will show him meeting with Danish Parliament, as well as members of the Supreme Court and representatives from the Danish church.
As well as the documentary, a local radio station in Copenhagen will host a call-in, asking listeners what they wished they’d known aged 18.
Christian was born on October 15, 2005, at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, and is known by his title of Count of Monpezat.
He is second-in-line to the throne of Denmark behind his grandmother, Queen Margrethe, and his father.
Crown Princess Mary and Prince Frederik chose to keep their son’s upbringing relatively private in his early years.
It wasn’t until 2012 that Christian attended his first official royal engagement with his grandmother, the Queen.

Last year, the palace announced that Christian (pictured) will only take money from the royal grant when he turns 21 – unless his father ascends the throne before.
Christian became the first Danish royal to attend a public state school, Tranegårdskolen in Hellerup, and his siblings, Princess Isabella of Denmark, 15, and Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 10, joined him in the years that followed.
At the start of 2020, all four of the royal children began a 12-week program at the Lemania-Verbier International School in Switzerland. But, just weeks into their studies the COVID-19 pandemic hit and they returned to Denmark.
Christian is currently undertaking the final years of his education at Ordrup Gymnasium, a state school in Copenhagen.
In June, Christian announced we would forgo his royal allowance to instead focus on his education. He will wait until he is 21 before becoming a full-time royal.
In November, Prince Christian will formally promise to uphold the country’s constitution, an important step forward in his journey as a king-in-waiting.
