Former 'Love & Hip Hop' Star Amina Buddafly Says Part of Her Storyline With Peter Gunz Was a Lie

Amina Buddafly spent several seasons on Love & Hip Hop in a toxic love triangle with Peter Gunz and Tara Wallace. Though Buddafly says the drama fans saw on the show was real, there was one part of her storyline that was not true.

Amina Buddafly says Peter Gunz was not her manager

When Buddafly and Gunz joined Love & Hip Hop, she was introduced as an artist he began working with. From there, it was marketed that Gunz became her manager. This was further believed to be the case when Gunz’s longtime girlfriend, Amina Buddafly, revealed in a confessional that Gunz told her Buddafly was his artist.

Things became complicated between all three parties after it was discovered that Gunz and Buddafly secretly married. But in a recent interview with Tasha K, Buddafly explained that producers were aware of her romantic relationship with Gunz and that the management storyline was contrived.

“That was for storyline,” Buddafly admits. “Me and Peter, we definitely connected on some music stuff. He always wanted to help me in the beginning when we met. It started out more as a friendship than a business relationship. It was never like I was his artist and then we started messing around. That looked like it, but it wasn’t what it was. We were friends and then we fell in love and then he wanted to help me with my music.”

Buddafly remained on the show for four seasons. Within that time, Gunz continued romantic relationships with both women. In fact, both became pregnant by Gunz around the same time.

Buddafly’s last straw was making the tough decision to terminate a pregnancy, only to discover Wallace was also carrying Gunz’s child. She became pregnant again but ended her relationship with Gunz as a result of the betrayal.

Despite the drama, Buddafly says Gunz is responsible for helping her get on such a platform as the reality series.

“He’s the reason why I ended up on the show,” Buddafly says of her no ex-husband. “And honestly, I thank him for it, even to this day. Tara always says that if she would have known all those things, that she would have never done the show. I, on the other hand, I would have done it the same way and I don’t really have any regrets because there are so many things that came out of the situation that I have to say thank you for. Thanks Peter for bringing me on the show. Even though he made a fool out of me.”

Though Gunz and Buddafly split, they co-parent their two daughters together. Their divorce was finalized in 2020 and both have moved on with their lives. Buddafly now lives in LA and Gunz remains in New York. She admits co-parenting is difficult at times due to living on separate coasts.
