Here’s Everything Jennifer Garner, 48, Has Said About Her Three Children With Ex Ben Affleck

Jennifer Garner, 48, is back on the small screen in the new Netflix movie Yes Day. The flick is a feel-good family comedy with a giant heart. Art imitates life, as Jennifer does “yes day” (in which she says “yes” to everything they request) IRL with her own children each year and posts the embarrassing results.

Jen coparents her three children, son Samuel, 9, and 12- and 15-year-old daughters Seraphina and Violet, with her ex-husband Ben Affleck. Jennifer and Ben were married for a decade and split in 2015.

Jennifer’s usually pretty quiet about her kids on social media, despite being open about her workouts, skincare routine, and eating habits. In fact, she’s only ever allowed them to be photographed at one official event, when Jennifer was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame in 2018.

Here’s everything she has said about her three children.

Violet Affleck

Violet was born Dec. 1, 2005. Not long after giving birth, Jen was filming the action-thriller The Kingdom in the Arizona desert. She was breastfeeding between fight scenes in 118-degree heat and was treated for dehydration in the hospital multiple times, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Paparazzi swarmed to Jen and her baby girl. “We lived down a street that was chock-a-block full of actors, much more successful and famous and decorated than me, including Ben, and they’d all go by one by one, no problem, and then I’d go do a school run and it’d be 15 cars going with me,” she told the publication. “I never had a day without them, and if I did, if I made it to a park by hiding in the bottom of the pool man’s truck or something, then a nanny would see me there and call a number and they’d swarm.”

When she was in kindergarten, Violet shared her perspective on paparazzi at a neighborhood gathering. “Violet’s hyper-articulate—she is Ben Affleck’s daughter,” Jen told The Hollywood Reporter, “and she stood up on a chair in a little velvet dress, with her hair a bit back and her glasses on and she didn’t say her R’s right, and she said: ‘We didn’t ask for this. We don’t want these cameras, they’re scary. The men are scary, they knock each other over and it’s hard to feel like a kid when you’re being chased.'”

Many fans have noted how similar Violet and Jen look. She shares Jen’s interest in beauty and cooking and caring for her younger siblings, a source told In Touch Weekly. But, Jen’s not too worried about Violet dating just yet, she told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on Today. “All I know is she’s in Zoom school … she goes to an all-girls school.”
