2020 is a year that will go down in history, what with a global pandemic and a nationwide lockdown changing all of our lives (and wardrobes) forever.

Comfortable footwear was already on the up before the pandemic, with athleisure and the rise of streetwear in fashion trends allowing many women to swap stilettos for the new ‘it’ trainer – and still be considered chic and stylish.

Trainer styles such as New Balance, Veja and Adidas all had a part to play in the uprising of comfort in women’s day to day style – and naturally started the decrease in heel sales.

Whilst 90s and noughties TV shows such as Sex and The City glorified the high heel as an essential in every woman’s wardrobe, modern day dressing doesn’t require a woman to wear heels to get ahead in work or be taken seriously.
