‘I’m a skin expert – a £2.50 natural method can reduce the signs of ageing’

The cold, wintery weather can do a lot of damage to our skin, drying it out and making it itchy and even cracked.

Dry indoor heating can make the problem worse and can even make the skin bleed.

And with the festive party season just around the corner, many people are looking for ways to hydrate and protect their skin as well as slow the signs of ageing.

With this in mind, Ocado has spoken to skincare expert and owner of RE/Skin Clinic, Rebecca Elsdon, to share an effective food-based skincare treatment that can make your skin glowy and reduce the signs of skin ageing.

Whilst certain foods and DIY treatments are discouraged, beauty experts say that some foods can help “brighten and protect skin”.

One of the everyday items Rebecca recommended using on your skin to reduce the signs of ageing is olive oil.

Olive oil can be a great replacement for a moisturising cream, especially for the body. The natural ingredient is known to soften, smooth and moisturise the skin during the winter months.

Rebecca explained: “Olive oil is rich in antioxidants and healthy fats, making it a great moisturiser and protector from environmental stresses.

The natural oil has multiple benefits, but Rebecca warns to not use olive oil long term, as it may clog pores.

Olive oil can be bought from most local supermarkets and online.
