‘I’m judged for being a glam trucker – but men shut up when they see my skills’

A glamorous truck driver says she brushes off sexist comments to keep on trucking.

Loredana Zainea, 28, says that she is judged by men who think she can’t park or do the job as well as a man.

She became a trucker after deciding to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps.

But Loredana says she faces prejudice every day in her job. She added: “Although I find my job empowering, there are male truck drivers who judge me for how I look and for being a woman.

“I have people saying that I won’t be able to park the truck properly or that they don’t believe I can do the job as well as a man can.

“When I jump in the cab and start to drive, they see what I can do, and they quickly change their opinion of me.

“But it shouldn’t take me having to prove myself and my skills to not be judged for my job”

Loredana, from Daventry, Northamptonshire, was inspired to get into trucking thanks to her grandfather.

She said: “I have been a truck driver for the past five years.

“My grandad was a trucker back in Romania and he is my inspiration.

“I spent most of my childhood with him and he would take me with him on trips that weren’t too far away.

“I would get so excited to go away with him and ride in the trucks.”
