A model believes she's been single for four years because men are intimidated by her.

Emanuelly Monteiro has no shortage of male admirers as 1.5million people follow her on Instagram.

But the 33-year-old, from Brazil, thinks people are too scared to approach her in person.

She believes her self confidence is off-putting to those who like to be the alpha male.

Emanuelly said: "Men are afraid of secure, successful women. Some of them believe they need to protect and be essential to their lives."

The influencer added: "When they find a woman who doesn't need that, there's frustration because there's no way to control her."

Emanuelly doesn't necessarily see this is a bad thing though – as she likes deterring blokes who aren't right for her.

She explained: "It removes what is broken and only those who want to stay are left."

So what exactly is the singleton looking for in a relationship?

Unlike other people in the spotlight, she'd prefer to date someone who isn't a celebrity themselves.

She said: "I'm more reserved in relation to relationships, so much so that I prefer to relate to anonymous people."

Personality is also very important to Emanuelly.

She added: "The most important thing is to have respect, affection, being responsible.

"Taking care of yourself is also important, but values are paramount."

Until Mr Right shows up, the model is content enough to do her own thing.

She added: "I'm very happy, in a great phase. But nobody knows what fate has in store."
