DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE thrown my marriage away because of stupid male pride. I’m such an idiot.
My wife is 37 and the mother of my two little boys, who are football-mad.
Our problems began when my wife, having been a stay-at-home mum for ten years, decided to get a job.
She said we’d have more money and she’d feel like she was contributing to the boys’ activities.
She found bar work in a snooker hall.
After a few weeks of her working nights and weekends, I felt undermined.

I have a shed and I’d lock myself away and drink myself to oblivion.
She’d come home and find me passed out somewhere. It happened week after week until she asked me to leave.
I went to my brother’s but then phoned her and said, “Is that it, then?” She said: “I guess so. What do you expect?”
I’m now in a bedsit, lonely and miserable. I’m 40. What can I say or do to win her back?

I can’t stop looking through girlfriend’s social media for clues about her exes
I’m worried I’ll be branded racist after reporting a colleague to his supervisor
DEIDRE SAYS: My guess is that she was most worried about your sons.
Children need parents who will put them first, and getting wasted while looking after them could have been catastrophic.
Call your wife and tell her you bitterly regret your actions and will get help.
Check out wearewithyou.org.uk, for people addicted to drugs or alcohol, and for their families and friends too.
If she sees you’re trying, she may agree to you going home.
