The Princess of Wales looked effortlessly chic yesterday as she sported a new hat while attending a Sunday church service.

Kate, 41, travelled in a car with her husband, Prince William, and disgraced Prince Andrew as they attended a Sunday service at Crathie Kirk church in Scotland, alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Dressed in a tartan coat, the royal looked elegant as she wore a new dark brown wool felt fedora with feathers.

The stylish hat, from Hicks & Brown, retails for £99 and comes in a variety of other colours such as camel, dusky pink and maroon. 

Mother-of-three Kate wore her brown tresses in a low bun, with the fedora carefully placed on her head.

Continuing with her autumnal look for the outing, Kate decided to pair her hat with a beige tartan jacket. 

She also donned silver drop earrings and natural makeup, opting for subtle rose- coloured lipstick. 

Kate seems to be a lover of fedoras in particular, wearing them for big family events such as the annual service at Sandringham, where she wore her dramatic olive green hat last Christmas. 

Other senior royals who attended Sunday’s church service included King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

Also pictured going to Crathie Kirk church yesterday was Lady Susan Hussey, who was the late Queen’s lady-in-waiting and was one of her closest confidants.

The gathering is the first time such a large number of royals have gathered at the Scottish estate since Queen Elizabeth died on September 8, last year. 

A sudden decline in her health at the age of 96 had sparked a rush from senior royals to see her at the Aberdeenshire castle last year, but many were unable to make it before she passed away.

Buckingham Palace had stated that King Charles intended to spend the anniversary of her death quietly reflecting at Balmoral while hosting visits from family and friends.

On Saturday the King, joined by Queen Camilla, took part in a traditional ceremony to present a new colour to the Royal Guard

While the King and Queen Camilla are known to prefer staying at Birkhall, their private home on the Aberdeenshire estate, Charles has bucked his preferences for tradition to honour his late mother.

He will stay at the Scottish residence for three weeks, meaning he will be there on the anniversary of his mother’s death next month.

The ceremony saw the use of a new colour, called the Ballater Colour, which is to be used by the Royal Guard as it marks a new monarch.

It is used by the soldiers who guard Balmoral Castle while the King is in residence during the summer months.
