On Friday morning, the much-anticipated “Barbie” movie teaser trailer was finally released, showing star Margot Robbie wearing the titular doll’s iconic vintage bathing suit.
In the playful clip, the “Wolf of Wall Street” star’s version of Barbie is introduced wearing a black and white one-piece strapless bathing suit with vintage white frame sunglasses and curly bangs, towering over children playing with dolls.
The look is one of the most coveted dolls, re-creating the 1959 poolside Barbie, who accessorizes her zebra suit with bright blue eyeshadow and gold hoop earrings.
There’s currently a reproduction of the doll available on Amazon for $113.
In the teaser, Ken, played by a tan and shirtless Ryan Gosling, 42, is also seen briefly, looking like an ’80s action star as well as Simu Liu and Issa Rae.
The “La La Land” actor shows off his many abs in an open black fringed vest and dons a matching headband, accessorizing with a silver necklace and gold chain on his pants.
In a later snapshot from the teaser, Robbie, 32, wears a silver sequined strapless ensemble with big, bouncy waves and a pink and white gingham dress with a matching hair bow.
The platinum-haired duo was spotted filming over the summer in coordinating western wear, with the “Suicide Squad” star’s Barbie outfitted in hot pink.
They were later snapped wearing matching neon rollerblades and patterned athleisure while skating through Venice Beach.
Though it’s unclear exactly what role Liu is playing in the film, he recently opened up about his preparation for the upcoming movie, in which he’s rumored to play another Ken doll. To get the hairless look, he waxed his entire body, describing it as “one of the most painful experiences of my life.”
Certainly seeing the Greta Gerwig-directed film on the big screen (in theaters on July 21, 2023) will make it all worth it.
