Molly Rainford parents: Who are Strictly Come Dancing star’s famous family?

Molly Rainford may have made it to the 2022 Strictly Come Dancing finals, but she’s no stranger to the spotlight. The 22 year old began her career back in 2012 when she made it to the final of the sixth series of Britain’s got Talent.

Between 2014 and 2015 she was also one of the presenters on Friday Download, where she starred alongside some other famous faces, including Outnumbered’s Tyger Drew-Honey, and Noel Gallagher’s model daughter Anaïs Gallagher.

Since 2021, she’s been the star of Nova Jones, a CBBC musical science-fiction TV series where she plays the titular galactic pop singer.

But after making national headlines on Strictly, Molly’s fame has grown massively, which naturally has led to many people wanting to find out more about her.

Now boasting 129K followers on Instagram, fans are finding out that the BGT alumni actually hails from a famous family, with a dad who was once a well-known footballer.

Who is Molly's famous dad?

Molly was born in Essex in 2000 to Dave and Sarah Rainford. Her dad started off his footballing career at Colchester United as a youth player, before shooting to fame as the former Chelmsford City FC midfielder and assistant manager.

David then returned to his roots at Colchester United in 1997 during his senior career, after also playing for a variety of other teams, including Bishop's Stortford, Slough Town, Heybridge Swifts and AFC Hornchurch.

Who is Molly’s mum?

It seems Molly’s mum is not involved in the media profession, as not much is known about her career.

However, it’s obvious that she shares a special bond with her children, Molly and her brother, 30 year old Billy, as their names are featured in her Instagram handle, with the words: “Proud mum.”

Sarah has been documenting her daughter’s journey on Strictly on social media, too. After finding out she made it to the semi finals, she shared a post of Molly and her dance partner, Carlos dancing.

“We made it to the SEMI FINALS! What a journey…SO proud of Molly & Carlos,” she captioned the shot.

“THANK YOU, THANK YOU, SO MUCH everyone who took the time to vote last week. We really do appreciate every single one of you taking the time to repost, support and vote for Molly & Carlos!”

“We really want to get Molly & Carlos to the FINAL next week, but that will not be possible without YOUR VOTE.”

While Sarah got her wish to see her daughter in the final, it looks as though we’ll be seeing more of Molly, who recently admitted her background in kids TV is why men don't chat her up, and her family in the coming weeks as she becomes even more of a star.
