A "money grabbing" bride asked people to send her a cash gift after her and her partner eloped.
The anonymous woman is said to have announced she got hitched on social media – and thought people would want to mark the occasion by sending her money.
According to the post, which was shared on Reddit, she said: "We eloped with close family. If anyone wants to help give us a start in life it would be greatly appreciated. What's a loose 50 nowadays anyway?"

Someone shared the bride's post on the platform, saying: "I just got married. Here's my account details for everyone to send me money. $50 please. After all, that's not much these days right?"
The caption was constructed as if to point out that it was rude to ask for cash – and hinted it was wrong for the bride to assume people could afford to give.
And many people seemed to agree, as they were gobsmacked that she expected to receive cash to mark the occasion.
One person replied: "If you 'eloped' with close family, you didn't elope. You had a small wedding with family."
Another added: "So they paid for a dress, suit, hair and makeup, a photographer and presumably a celebrant, venue, food and drinks for family from both sides, but please, give us your spare pineapples to pay for an event you weren't invited to."
A third also commented: "I'm still surprised that people in the poverty line can think that $50 is nothing, while those that are above it think that it's hard to earn."
The post was shared on the platform under the title "money grabbing bride", and many seem to think it was wrong of her to ask for cash.
Social media users said if the bride didn't invite people to her wedding then she shouldn't expect gifts in return.
One person even dubbed her "super classless", adding: "As someone who recently had a wedding, let me tell you that wedding cash gifts very much are a thing.
"Asking for money this way from people you didn’t invite to your wedding is pretty cringey though."
