Mum says she ‘hates husband of 16 years’ – but she’d never divorce him

A mum has opened up about how she "hates her husband" in a memoir she wrote about marriage.

Heather Havrilesky penned a book called Foreverland: On the Divine Tedium of Marriage, which was recently released.

In the publication, the 51-year-old describes marriage as a "funny thing" with her husband of 16 years.

She does share two daughters with her partner Bill, a 12-year-old and 15-year-old, reports Daily Mail.

The mum-of-two referred to her husband as a "pointy Lego brick underfoot" and a "snoring heap of meat".

But despite her marriage woes, Heather doesn't plan on turning her back on the relationship with her husband.

Growing up with divorced parents who argued, Heather idealised marriage like the relationships portrayed by Disney princesses.

The author and journalist has written three other books.

She wanted to pen an honest memoir after wanting to "throw marriage books across the room" because they didn't feel real.

Heather confesses she thought she made a mistake by writing it after seeing her husband and children's reaction to it.

However, her husband Bill said he "doesn't care" what people think about him.

In one chapter, Heather confessed that her partner had a crush on another writer.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer and noted how supportive he was through her treatment.

Heather said: "I hate it when people say their husband is their best friend but he is my best friend, my therapist."

You can pick up your copy of Foreverland: On the Divine Tedium of Marriage on Amazon for £16.47 or £9.99 on a Kindle.
