Mum’s blunder sees her celebrating tot’s birthday on wrong date for 2 years

A mum was left in hysterics when she realised she had been celebrating her son's birthday on the wrong date for years in a parenting fail that has people creasing.

Emily Vondrachek shared the blunder in a video and said she hoped the funny tale would give other parents a "real confidence boost".

Giving birth is exhausting and the ride to parenthood can be very rough so it's understandable how Emily could get her son's birthday ever-so-slightly wrong.

Let's face it, unless someone is born on a named day like Christmas, it can be tough to recall at the best of times, let alone when you are getting to grips with a new baby.

In the video, she says: "Here's a little story to allow all the mums of littles out there to maybe feel a little better about yourselves, here's a real confidence boost for you (not for me).

"I just got off the phone with my pediatrician, she’s trying to bill our last visit to our insurance company.

"Per my words, my son's birthday is the 26th. I am his mother, I know his birthday.

"The insurance company says no, his birthday’s on the 25th.

"I was about to call up my insurance company to let them have it but I thought maybe I should scroll back on Facebook to look at the birth announcement years ago to make sure".

"I just got done doing that, and his birthday is indeed the 25th," she says, putting her head in her hands.

Sharing Facebook screenshots of her celebrating the birthday, she cringes: "For two years I’ve been celebrating his birthday on the 26th!"

The video has been watched more than 1.6 million times since Emily uploaded it on her @thevondyfamTikTok on Wednesday (January 12) and it turns out the mistake is pretty common.

One user commented: "This happened to my ex-husband but for over 25 years his mother thought his bday was different for 25+ years."

A second person wrote: "My sister-in-law called to wish my daughter a happy birthday, I said it’s not today it’s tomorrow! She said no, it’s today! So I feel you mama!"

Someone else wrote: "I got flustered one day when someone said I had a handsome baby boy and asked his name. I said Ron. Her name is Harper. It’s hard out here."

Another person said: "One year my mother sang Happy birthday to Allison…My name is Ashley. I'm an only child."
