Plus size cowgirl branded ‘too big’ to ride horse defies fat-shaming trolls

A plus size cowgirl slammed haters after being called 'too fat' to ride a horse – but proved you don't have to be 'skinny' to do so.

Mariah, from Texas, US, often spends time with her horses and dogs, who are her 'life'.

However, not everyone is too fond of the equestrian's passion – and it largely looks like it is to do with her weight.

Despite dropping from 18.9st to 17st during her weight loss journey, judges at a riding event still found issue with Mariah's appearance.

Instead of focusing on her experience as a skilled equestrian, the judging panel were more concerned about her size than her talent.

“So it is painfully obvious, I’m a plus-size rider,” the cowgirl said in a TikTok clip that has now gone viral.

“The last time I was at this series I was the only plus-size rider in the group.”

She sought advice for a male judge after the riding event and was taken aback by his 'hurtful' comments.

Mariah revealed: “That judge looked me up and down and said, ‘You know when y’all was lining up, I looked at the group and thought, she’s going to have the most trouble'.”

Shocked at what she heard, the horse rider questioned: “Uhhh, did the judge just call me fat?”

Although, the harsh judge's remarks turned out to be bittersweet.

"He said, ‘Yep, but when you got in the ring you rode better than the rest of them'.”

“So I guess the fat b*tch came right,” Mariah declared.

"The treatment difference between men and women is real."

In support of the curvy cowgirl, many people fled to the comments to praise Mariah and even relate to her situation.

One person commented: "Get it girl, make them regret their opinions."

Someone else shared: "I got fat shamed yesterday. I’m 160lbs darn most men weigh more than that and no one shames them."

Meanwhile, a fifth expressed: "You get ‘em girl…let them keep underestimating the power of woman, big or little!"
