Queen Elizabeth has expressed her approval of Camilla Parker Bowles being queen consort, and Camilla’s popularity has been steadily rising in the United Kingdom. However, she is still not well-received across the pond.
According to an expert, Camilla’s chances of being popular in the United States could be affected by Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir.
Prince Harry’s memoir could allegedly have negative stories about Camilla Parker Bowles
In 2021, Harry announced he would publish a memoir to talk about his childhood, royal life, and current life in California. There are rumors that he might use the opportunity to share grievances against the royal family, including some members such as Camilla.
“According to insiders, this is the problem that Camilla now faces because she knows that she will feature allegedly heavily within Prince Harry’s book,” reporter Neil Sean said in a YouTube video. “After all, she plays a rather large part in his formative years.”
Meanwhile, former royal butler Paul Burrell said to Closer, “He’ll no doubt go in-depth about his feelings after his mother’s death, and the subsequent events. After the reports [the Duchess of Cornwall] was involved in his parents’ marriage and then stepped into Diana’s shoes as Charles’ wife, I suspect Camilla will be in his sights. So I’d say Harry’s set to reveal any Camilla secrets. He’s already said he enjoys The Crown, which painted Camilla as the ‘wicked stepmother’ in a way.”
The memoir could shut down chances of Camilla being popular in America
Although Camilla has won over some members of the British public in the past several years, Americans generally have a different opinion of her. Royal commentator Lee Cohen believes Harry’s memoir could seriously prevent Camilla from finding any popularity in the States.
“She’s really a very admirable person and as I said an asset to Britain,” Cohen told Express. “She makes the heir to the throne happy. Americans are only perhaps seduced by the memory of the beautiful and glamourous Princess Diana.”
Cohen added, “I think if Harry does some kind of frontal attack, Americans are not likely to warm to her.”
Harry’s memoir won’t be a ‘burn book,’ another expert speculates
Although some people believe there will be juicy information about royals in Harry’s memoir, royal author Omid Scobie believes it won’t be much of a “burn book.”
“Harry really is going out of his way to make sure that there isn’t material in there that can be seen as negative toward the Queen or her reign in any way whatsoever,” Scobie said during an episode of the Royally Obsessed podcast. “He really wants to celebrate her life and his relationship with her in that book.”
Scobie added, “I think as much as the press want this to be a burn book and an attack on the institution, this is more just about his story. And, of course, his story is so much more than just the few years of his life as the Duke of Sussex.”
