Priscilla Presley teared up reading a moving poem written by one of her granddaughters to eulogize Lisa Marie Presley on Sunday.
The “Old Soul” poem, which Priscilla recited at her daughter’s public memorial service at Graceland, was penned by either Riley, 33, or twins Harper and Finley, 14.
The verses began, “In 1968, she entered our world / Born tired, fragile, yet strong / She was delicate but was filled with life.
“She always knew she wouldn’t be here too long / Childhood passes by with a glimpse of her green eye / She then grew a family of her own,” the poem continued.
It went on to reference Lisa Marie’s son Benjamin’s death by suicide in July 2020, reading, “Then came her second child leaving her with suspicion / Could this be the angel that takes me home?”
The poem ended with a reference to the late singer’s “survivor’s guilt,” calling “a broken heart … a doing of her death” on Jan. 12 at age 54.
“Now, she is home where she always belonged, but my heart is missing her love,” it concluded. “She knew that I loved her / I fear I’ll never touch her / But the old soul is always with me / She doesn’t drift above.”
Riley’s note revealed that she and Smith-Petersen secretly welcomed a baby girl after tying the knot in 2015.
“I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters,” the “Daisy Jones & The Six” star’s message read in part.
Austin Butler, Sarah Ferguson and Alanis Morissette also attended Lisa Marie’s service, among other A-listers.
Later that same day, she was laid to rest next to Benjamin in the Meditation Garden at her late father Elvis Presley’s Tennessee estate.
