With the Queen’s Jubilee just around the corner, people across the country are gearing up to celebrate – so what better way to shine a light on the Royal Family than to take a look back at some of their finest beauty moments? Specifically, their best hair moments.
If you consider how many official events royals have to attend, there are plenty of contenders from the past few decades for the best hairstyles photographed. But how would such a thing be measured, you wonder? Hair brand Milk + Blush has taken a look through the UK’s top Google searches for hairstyles from Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, Princess Diana, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and ranked them in order of search volume.
So, will Meghan’s wedding look place highly? Perhaps Eugenie’s own bridal beauty? Here’s the ranking…
In fifth place… Princess Beatrice’s wedding day waves
Pulling in a very respectable 20 Google searches each month since her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020, Princess Beatrice places in the top five for most popular royal hairstyles according to search traffic.
We love how she chose to wear her hair down in soft waves. It gave her bridal look a very soft and feminine feel.
In fourth place… Princess Eugenie’s wedding day updo
Princess Eugenie got married to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018 – and Google reported a high volume of searches surrounding her bridal look in the days following the wedding. Now, nearly four years later, Eugenie’s wedding hair gets searched around 20 times each month,
We love how she was seemingly inspired by Meghan and her undone, low bun – and wow, the tiara certainly did make for a great hair accessory,
In third place… Princess Diana’s 80s elegant shag
Princess Diana has also been receiving a spike in Google searches thanks to a TikToker recently recreating her signature 80s bouffant hairstyle, with 1,300 searches for “Princess Diana hair” in May last year. Thevideo, which currently has almost 20m views, shows TikToker@70srosetransforming into the fashion icon by styling her hair in Diana’s feathered shag style with a striking resemblance.
Since then, the look has been searched around 590 per month.
In second place… Meghan Markle’s wedding day bun
Nearly taking first spot with her bridal hair look is Meghan, who has reeled in around 1,600 Google searches each month since she showed off the perfect updo back in 2018. It’s not hard to see why so many people are searching for the look over four years later: the bun is a top choice for future brides.
In first place… Kate Middleton’s school drop-off ‘do
Yes, that’s right, of all the incredible red carpet and glamorous events Kate attends, it was a hairstyle she wore to drop off Princess Charlotte at her first day of school that received the most Google searches – 2,400 per month, in fact, since she was photographed with the style in September 2019.
So why is this look so popular three years later? With plenty of volume, Kate’s signature bouncy curls and a warm mid-brunette colour, this look is the Duchess at her finest – and the perfect inspo picture to take into your hair salon for a styling appointment.
