Ultra-rare 24-carat gold coin to mark Queen’s Jubilee goes on sale for £99k

A rare coin to mark the Queen's Jubilee is worth a lot of money.

The ultra rare gold coin was minted to commemorate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee by UK coin specialist Hattons of London.

And it's come with a huge price tag of £99,000.

Just three of these coins exist, with all snapped up by avid collectors following nationwide celebrations last month for the monarch.

Measuring 100mm in diameter and 1kg in weight, the coins have been struck in 24-carat gold.

Each coin has been produced in the highest purity gold possible, an astonishing 99.99% pure.

It is the centrepiece of the Her Majesty's Graces' range, the only Hattons of London collection released in 2022 to include a kilo coin.

The collection features exclusive portraits by celebrated British coin designer Jody Clark.

Designed to celebrate the Queen's qualities, wisdom, strength and leadership, the coins are inspired by a historic design.

It was created by Victorian coin designer William Wyon, who was the Royal Mint's chief engraver until 1851.

The traditional design features classical female figures or Graces' each holding an object to represent a particular quality.

Its new design features the Queen on the obverse as the reverse shows four Graces side-by-side linked by a single slash.

From left to right the Graces hold a sword to represent Her Majesty's qualities.

Each of the three kilo coins have now been sold and Her Majesty's Graces range had reached its Sell Out Guarantee date, June 30.

Hattons of London Managing Director Simon Mellinger said: "Celebrating Her Majesty's remarkable reign spanning seven decades, the Her Majesty's Graces Kilo coin was designed to offer our clients the opportunity to own a truly unique piece of Platinum Jubilee history that reflects the magnitude of this unprecedented occasion.

"With just three of these coins in existence, they are incredibly rare but we feel that the design, which recognises Queen Elizabeth II's enduring dedication to her country, is a fitting tribute."
