A 45-year-old woman has been charged with murder over the death of an elderly Coburg man last year.
Police say 87-year-old Kon Kritikos was left lying on the floor with critical injuries for up to five and a half hours before he was found by a family member on November 11. He later died in hospital.
Tuesday’s arrest of the woman, from Kurunjang, comes two weeks after police pleaded for information from the public over the attack.
Kon Kritikos was home alone at his Reynard Street property in Coburg on November 11 when he was bashed.
She was interviewed by detectives on Tuesday morning and subsequently charged with one count of murder. She appeared at Melbourne’s Magistrate’s Court later in the day.
Mr Kritikos was found seriously injured at his Reynard Street property by his son just before 11pm, and police believe he was assaulted between 3.30pm and 5.30pm that day.
Mr Kritikos was taken to hospital but died on 24 November, 13 days after the attack.
Police previously stated that a 45-year-old Kurunjang woman who was known to Mr Kritikos was at his home when police arrived on the night. The woman, and another man, were interviewed by police at the time but were released.
More to come.
