This is the heartwarming moment siblings reunited after an ancestry DNA kit brought them together following a 65-year search to find each other.

Bobbi Gambrell, 69, from Louisiana, spent her whole life looking for the brothers she knew were scattered somewhere across the United States, without success.

The last time Bobbi saw her younger siblings, was more than six decades ago when, aged four,  she was taken from her home together with two other sisters to be placed in foster care in Florida, unaware that this would be the last time she saw her mother and siblings.

In total, at least 14 siblings – possibly more –  were placed for adoption across the U.S.

Having been separated at such a young age,  Bobbi had given up all hope of connecting with her biological family until her daughter Mary Butler, who is in her 30s,  connected with a man on DNA website MyHertiage – who told her he believed he was her uncle.

‘My mother is one of 14 siblings who were placed for adoption,’ Mary explained.

‘They were born in Louisiana but their childhood was difficult, the grandfather died at a young age and raising 14 children in such a difficult area was too complex. My mother didn’t know too much about them, apart from their names.’

‘Mom didn’t even know what her real name was until her first daughter was born,’ she added.

‘Only then, in the hospital, she discovered her full name. Since then she hoped to find them one day, but was never able to find any information.

‘She didn’t have too many options and she hoped that one day a miracle would happen and they would return to her life.’

Without having any information about her siblings, she continued to pray for a miracle and eventually the miracle came.

Having grown up without any cousins, Mary had always been curious about her family history and in summer 2021 ordered a DNA test through MyHertiage.com.

Initially, the results didn’t bring any significant matches until one day recently when Mary’s phone rang.

Mary was able to meet her first cousins for the first time – and said they ‘all look like me, we have the same nose.’

A man named Randolph Mitchell was on the line, he said ‘It’s a little strange, I know, but I believe I’m your uncle,’.

He drew her attention to the new DNA matches she’d received on her MyHeritage account. ‘I’m one of your mother’s 13 brothers,’ he said. ‘So far I have been able to locate three sisters, your mother is the fourth.’

Randolph shared his birth certificate, which lists Bobbi’s parents (Mary’s grandparents.)

He also sent pictures of himself and his daughter (Mary’s cousin.)

After verifying the information Randolph shared, Mary quickly drove to her mother’s house to surprise her.

Holding his picture on a phone screen in one hand, and another phone recording the moment on video in the other, Mary told her mother that she found the brother she’d been searching for.

Mary was alerted to Mitchell through MyHeritage

‘I talked to Randolph Mitchell today, he called me. Your little brother called me today,’ Mary says in the emotional video.

Bobbi’s shock is palpable. ‘For real?’ she asks. After a few moments, she lets the news sink in, Mary calls Randolph. ‘Hi Uncle, I got your sister here with me,’ she says.

‘How are you?’ Bobbi asks her little brother.

‘I’m doing great, I found you!’ he replies.

At this point, Bobbi could no longer hold back the tears.

Bobbi went on to have eightkids, 26 grandkids and six great-grandkids  (pictured)

‘I’m so sorry, I can’t talk right now. It’s too much right now,’ she says in the video, her voice breaking,’.

On October 1st, in Florida, Bobbi, Randolph, and their older sister Lois, 77, reunited along with some of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The emotional moment was captured on video, with Mary explaining: ‘I have cousins, like older cousins and younger cousins and they all look like me, we have the same nose.

‘Family is home and that’s the most important thing to us now, we are home’.

Bobbi was even more emotional, adding: ‘I ain’t gon have no more water left in my body with all this crying. Oh my god.

Lois added: ‘You know I’ve been looking for many, many years for my siblings and my family. And this is a dream come true’.
