A woman has been left mortified after discovering a ‘creepy’ note in the pocket of her charity shop find.
In April 2021, Scott Murray, from North Carolina, went viral on Facebook after he posted a picture of his partner JoAnn in her new jacket.
The bargain hunter was initially thrilled with her new bright red blazer – which had pretty floral embroidery on the lapel and pockets.
But it was only when the pair returned home that she found a message from the previous owner pinned to the inside.
Written on a scrap of white paper, the handwritten message read: ‘Bury me in this red suit.’

Unfortunately for the previous owner, their family seemed to have accidentally overlooked one of their final wishes and donated the beloved two-piece to charity.
Stunned by the discovery, Scott then posted a photo of the note on his Facebook page.
He wrote: ‘Thrift shopping JoAnn found this lovely red jacket and it had a note pinned in the pocket.’
His recently resurfaced post has amassed hundreds of ‘likes’, comments and shares since it was first uploaded – and the note clearly struck a chord with his followers.
One replied: ‘Oh, I hope she got buried in something wonderful.’
Another added: ‘Well, that makes me really sad.’
‘So damn sad,’ a third wrote. ‘Her family most likely never saw this though.’
Meanwhile, others said the note would have put them off wearing the blazer.

The recently resurfaced post amassed hundreds of ‘likes’ and shares – and some speculated it could have all been a prank
‘That’s so creepy,’ a fifth said. ‘I couldn’t wear it.’
However, others speculated that it could have been an elaborate prank on the new owners of the jacket.
One wrote: ‘ Can y’all go back to see if there are more notes in other jackets?
‘Maybe this was a joke… Grandma left on all her favorite jackets and had this post to still mess with her kids.’
Another added: ‘I’m gonna start putting this in the pockets of all the clothes I donate.’
