The Strictly Come Dancing contestants have been giving us some major fashion envy this season, but there’s another member of the Strictly family who has been giving the dancers a run for their money when it comes to fashion moments.
Head judge Shirley Ballas has been sporting some incredible looks lately, and one of her most recent outfits had us immediately trying to track it down.
On Saturday night, Shirley donned a gorgeous black velvet mini dress for the results show, and after posting a snap of herself wearing the dress on Sunday, it seems we weren’t alone in wanting to know exactly where we could get our hands on it.
“Beautiful dress. My daughter would love this! Where is it from please?” asked one, whilst another said: “Beautiful dress tonight, Shirley Love it~ my favourite colour.”
A third even admitted: “Another beautiful dress Shirley! I tune in to Strictly to see the outfits nearly as much as the dancing.”
The dress that had everyone obsessing over it turned out to be the Black Star dress from Queens of Archive, £375 here, and much to our dismay it is completely sold out in every single size.
Never ones to be deterred though, we set about tracking it down, and couldn’t believe our eyes when we discovered itavailable to rent on Hurr– for just £59.16.
Yep, not only is it currently available in multiple sizes, but it can also be yours for more than £300 cheaper than if you bought it outright for yourself. For the uninitiated, Hurr is a fashion rental platform that lets you loan clothes and accessories at a fraction of their usual retail price, and they have some incredible designers on there including high end luxury brands.
With the Christmas period heralding a myriad of different events and parties to go to, renting is the perfect way to save yourself some money on new outfits whilst still making sure you’re not spotted wearing the same outfit twice (although we do love an outfit repeater!).
You can rent the Queens of Archive Black Star dress on Hurr for just£59.16 herefor four days, with sizes 6-12 currently all available for rental. You can also increase how many days you want to rent the dress for, with the option to borrow the dress for 8, 16 or 30 days, so if you have a couple of events coming up that the dress would be perfect for, you can keep it hanging in your wardrobe for up to a month.
If you already know you’re going to want to keep the dress as part of your regular wardrobe, you can snap up a similar version from several brands right now. River Island's Black Star Embellishment Bodycon Mini Dress, £120 here, has a very similar vibe to Shirley’s dress, except with silver stars instead of gold, whilst Roman Originals has a slightly more budget-friendly version with its halterneck black velvet mini dress with gold stars for just£48 here.
‘Tis the season for all things sparkly, after all.
