Arsenal joined by Inter Milan in Andre Onana transfer race but Italian club not interested in Bernd Leno move

ARSENAL'S pursuit of main goalkeeper target Andre Onana is under threat from Inter Milan.

The Serie A kings have reportedly ruled out bidding for axed Gunners' stopper Bernd Leno.

And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Ajax star Onana is 'really close' to joining Inter in a free transfer next summer.

Cameroon No1 Onana is expected to reject a new deal with the Dutch champions and has regularly been linked with Arsenal.

But now Inter appear to be favourites to sign the 25-year-old.

The Italian giants need a long-term replacement for Slovenia ace Samir Handanovic, 37,

Leno was thought to be on Inter's radar but it's claimed the German is now completely off their list of alternatives.

The 29-year-old has been replaced by £30million summer buy Aaron Ramsdale during Arsenal's dramatic Premier League revival.

The former Sheffield United No1 began with three clean sheets and retained his place for Sunday's impressive 3-1 defeat of Tottenham.

But at 23 Ramsdale is still regarded as a player more for the future.

And Onana seems to fit the bill for both Arsenal and Inter.

He is out of favour with Ajax, after returning from a nine-month ban for a doping violation.

Onana was found to have banned substance furosemide in his urine during an 'out of competition' check last October.

Gunners' legend and Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars said they have 'moved on without him'.

That has left Onana training with the youth team to regain fitness.
