More from Merson
And Paul Merson claims Chelsea will be the unlucky party to miss out on the top four under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
I don’t see Liverpool mounting a challenge at the moment.
A lot depends on whether Manchester United can get Harry Kane. If they do, they’re massive challengers for the Premier League title. If they don’t, they’ll still be fighting for a place in the top four.
I don’t think Chelsea will get into the top four – there’s too much work to be done at the moment.
They’ve got a big squad without a midfield, and they’ve got rid of Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount. Their squad is very unbalanced.

Paul Merson prediction
Arsenal hero Paul Merson has locked in his Premier League predictions early doors, and it is bad news for his former club.
I can’t look past Manchester City for the Premier League title. With Ilkay Gundogan gone and Kyle Walker on his way out, it might be difficult for them this season.
Arsenal could give them a run for their money, but City’s bench is very strong and Declan Rice will need to get used to the way Arsenal play.
They move the ball around a lot faster than he’s used to at West Ham and England. Arsenal could get close…
At the moment, the only thing that could deny Man City the Premier League title is their own complacency. They’ve got the best squad and should be able to defend their crown.

Gunner get him
Arsenal have been told to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar by former player Julio Baptista as he would "complete" the team.
I think Neymar is comfortable at PSG, but maybe the best move for him is to create a new atmosphere at a new club – maybe a club that supports him and gives him all the confidence that he needs. He doesn’t have that at PSG.
The fans don’t like him a lot and maybe it is time to move on and try something different. Why not? Arsenal is one of the best clubs in Europe. We know that the last eight or so years, Arsenal have not produced their best or been as competitive.
But now, with Arteta, Arsenal have something different. They have started to construct something powerful. Why not? Maybe this could be the key. In Brazil we say that you have the house, you have everything, and you just need the key to open it. Maybe Neymar is the key to open and complete everything at Arsenal. He is an incredible player.

Kudus 'prefers Arsenal'
Ajax star Mohammed Kudus prefers to join Arsenal than London rivals Chelsea this summer.
According to Football Transfers, Kudus is keen to play in the Champions League next term.
That immediately gives the Gunners a major advantage after the Blues missed out on Europe's premiere competition due to their miserable mid-table finish last term.
The midfielder looked close to a summer exit when he was withdrawn from pre-season training.
But the Eredivisie team are now increasingly confident of keeping the Ghana international.

Arteta on Wenger statue
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hailed former bossArsene Wenger following the club legend's statue unveiling outside the Emirates:
It’s such a great tribute that the club has done something special for Arsene that he fully deserves and merits. With a statue now at the stadium, Arsene can have that recognition and be here at our club forever.
I’m so grateful to have played for Arsene at this club in my career. He chose me to be one of his players and selected me to be the captain of the club and that's something I will never forget.
Towards the end of my playing career, I started to speak with Arsene about going into coaching and management myself, and he told me he had already anticipated that.
Even the first year when I got here, he said to me: ‘one day you are going to be a manager’, and I wasn't really thinking about that at that time.
