Arsene Wenger raises Harry Kane concern as ex-Tottenham star claims striker must have been jealous during Man City loss

ARSENE WENGER has raised doubts over Harry Kane's fitness, claiming he is not ready to play at a high intensity.

The Spurs superstar looked a shadow of his usual self as Jose Mourinho's side crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Man City on Saturday.

Kane was rushed back from an ankle injury picked up against Liverpool on January 28.

He started against West Brom on February 7 before playing 67 minutes in the FA Cup defeat with Everton just three days later.

Kane has endured reoccurring ankle issues in the past and former Arsenal boss Wenger believes the England captain could do with being rested.

He said on beIN Sports: "What we have learned from Tottenham, like I said before the game, Lloris doesn’t look to be at his best.

"Nor is Harry Kane. He looks physically, fitness-wise, not completely ready to play at that intensity.

"To me he looks still a bit injured on his ankle when he got hurt one time, he went down quickly and it was not a big hit.

"So with that handicap, Tottenham will have a difficult game."

Former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp also believes Kane must be jealous that he isn't playing in a quality side such as Man City.

Kane had just one shot on target against Pep Guardiola's men and was forced to do his fair share of defensive work.

Redknapp said on Sky Sports: "Harry Kane, the best thing he did was have four headers away from his own goal.

"Kane must be thinking, 'if I played in that side, how many goals would I get?'

"Most of his work today was tracking back for his own team.

"Kane must look at that thinking, 'I want touches, I want to be the main man. My only shot on target was a free-kick.'

"He wants to be involved in open play, he's coming so deep to get the ball – he won't be happy doing that."
