Australian darts star Kyle Anderson has died, aged 33.
PDC referee Russ Bray tweeted the sad news on Tuesday morning.
He posted: "I am absolutely devastated to hear Kyle Anderson has passed away. A nicer person you could not wish to meet. A lovely man and good friend. My thoughts are with his young family. RIP bud. So, so sad."
On August 10, Anderson uploaded a selfie to Instagram seemingly in hospital in Brisbane.
He captioned: "Getting all too regular now."
Anderson shot to stardom in 2013 when he landed the perfect nine-dart leg against Ian White in the World Championship at Alexandra Palace.
He pocketed £15,000 for the feat after hitting two 180s followed by a 141 checkout.
Anderson would go on to reach the last 32 of the PDC's premier tournament in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.
He also reached the last 16 of the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix in 2016, as well as the semi-finals of the European Championship in 2017 and the quarter-final of the UK Open in 2016.
Anderson returned to Australia following the suspension of events due to the Covid-19 pandemic last March, and did not return to the tour, resigning his card prior to the 2021 season.
His brother, Beau, also competed in the PDC between 2013 and 2017 after moving over from the BDO.
Fellow pro Stephen Bunting tweeted: "Absolutely gutted hearing the news this morning. RIP Kyle Anderson. The darts world hasn’t been the same with you not around brother.
"You always made me laugh every time we met. Never a dull moment with you around. We are all gonna miss you mate."
