Chelsea star Conor Gallagher wanted by Crystal Palace on permanent transfer after winning player of year during loan

CRYSTAL PALACE want to secure the permanent signing of loan star Conor Gallagher, say reports.

Gallagher, 22, was named as Palace's 2021/22 player of the season on Tuesday night.

The South London native has shone for Patrick Viera’s side since joining on loan from Chelsea last summer.

And talkSPORT say that Palace want to make it long term.

Chairman Steve Parish gushed over the midfielder at the end of year awards ceremony, after the team secured another season in the Premier League.

He said: "We would love to have Conor Gallagher back, I am not going to pretend that is not the case.

"Conor will make his own choices of course, and the club will have something to say about it, but we have enjoyed every minutes of having him here this year.

"So if that is all we get of him, and I hope not, he has been a fantastic asset to the club as a player, and as a person as well."

He has even got an England call-up for his gifted performances, making his debut in the 10-0 rout of San Marino.

And Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan sent scouts to Selhurst Park to watch the playmaker in action.

Gallagher is due to head back to the Blues this summer as Thomas Tuchel may look to add him to his midfield at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher thanked "brilliant" fans and "unreal" staff for his season at the club, but didn't give any indication of his next chapter.

The youngster said: “Its massive. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart I can’t thank the fans enough. You’ve been brilliant from the first day and I’ve loved every minute of playing for Crystal Palace.

“I want to thank the players and the staff as well, because they’ve been unreal. I really appreciate it, so thank you so much.

“There have been a few highlights, it’s hard to pick one. But Manchester City, that win there and scoring was an amazing feeling.”
