CU Buffs to open football season on FOX’s Big Noon Saturday – The Denver Post

Colorado will kick off the Coach Prime era in a prime TV spot.

On Monday, it was announced that CU’s football season opener on Sept. 2 at TCU has been selected for FOX’s Big Noon Saturday telecast.

It will be the official debut for new CU head coach Deion Sanders and the new-look Buffs.

The Buffs and Horned Frogs will kick off at 10 a.m. Mountain at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The CU game was one of two announced by FOX, along with the Ohio State vs. Michigan game in the Big Noon slot on Nov. 25.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Big Noon Saturday broadcast window for our season opener at TCU,” CU athletic director Rick George said in a press release. “(Being selected) shows how much excitement there is for the Coach Prime era to begin on a national scale.”

The game will be broadcast after FOX’s weekly Big Noon Kickoff pregame show, which is shown on FOX and FS1. Big Noon Saturday debuted in 2019. CU has made one other appearance in that slot, when it hosted Utah on Dec. 12, 2020.

Former CU receiver and offensive coordinator Darrin Chiaverini was announced Monday as the new head coach at Chaffey (Calif.) College. Chiaverini, who played at CU from 1996-99, was a Buffs assistant coach from 2016-21. He worked as an analyst at UCLA last season. … Former CU cornerback Nikko Reed, who entered the transfer portal last month, committed to Oregon on Monday.
