A touch of WWE came to the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton… well, almost.
The tournament, one of the final stops on the road to next month’s PDC World Championship at the Alexandra Palace got underway on Saturday. Sixth seed Luke Humphries, a four-time European Tour winner this year, made a confident start to Group H with a 5-2 win over debutant Scott Williams, sealing victory with a 121 finish.
After the match, the pair embraced each other warmly. Humphries then turned away, with Williams giving him the briefest double middle finger salutes in jest before making his way off the stage.

Some fans have criticised Williams for the crude gesture but others saw the funny side, pointing out that it was clearly a joke. Williams took to Twitter on Sunday to address the incident and apologise to Humphries.
“Sorry to @lukeh180 about last night….thought you were gonna turn round and I was going to Stone Cold Stunner you,” he joked with a clip of WWE legend Steve Austin delivering his iconic finishing move, the Stone Cold Stunner.
Humphries, who is presumably a fan of Austin's great rival, The Rock, hilariously replied: "That’s alright, I would off countered that and rock bottomed you through the stage."

Williams played his second match of the tournament on Sunday, losing to young Northern Irish sensation Josh Rock, who secured his first Grand Slam victory with a deciding-leg win. Rock hit four 180s, taking out a 145 finish and firing in a 13-dart hold to claim a precious two points.
Despite losing his first two matches so far, Williams, who is nicknamed Shaggy, still has an outside chance of reaching the knockout stage if he can defeat Ryan Searle and Humphries beats Rock on Tuesday.
